So, there!

When I was a ninth grader living in the Devonshire development of the South Jersey township of Mt. Laurel, I used to play basketball with a sixth grader named Victor Hobson. Because he bore a resemblance to former Detroit Pistons guard Joe Dumars, we called him "Little Joe Dumars." He was a much better basketball player than me, but considering my lack of athletic ability, this isn't saying much. But at that age, defeating a player three years your senior is significant, so he constantly reminded us of our age difference.

At that age, it was already clear he was an excellent athlete. He was about my size and possessed a strong frame. I used this as the explanation for his superior skills, but in sixth grade, logic carries very little weight.

So what's Victor Hobson up to these days? Click here.

I never could figure out how that kid beat you.

Danny Eisner: "Damnit, you win. 18-0, again."

Victor 'Little Joe Dumars' Hobson: "Indeed. Though I've noted this several times today, it bears repeating: I, a sixth grader, have defeated you, a ninth grader, in athletic competition. This is quite remarkable."

oh, i rejected Hobson on the mighty Kinder-Kare courts of Devonshire...of course, that was after he and his grade-school friends smoked me...not as much as "eye of the storm," of course...

ummmm....even your beloved eagles making it to the super bowl can't shake you out of your slumber? or perhaps you've also become a patriots fan now?

looks like you're in a win/win situation regarding the Super Bowl - if the Eagles win, you can say they're your historical favorite - if the Patsies win, you can just say they're your adopted team (just like the Red Sox)....or you could take a stance on the game now!
